Costs
The Summer Service Learning Program is one of the most economical education abroad opportunities available for U.S. participants seeking a high quality cultural immersion program in a China few outsiders ever experience. Minimum total expenses for both Sessions, including program fees, airfare, insurance, and travel documents is estimated at $2,800. Thanks to substantial support from Wang Foundation, Tsinghua University, and the Poverty Alleviation e-Learning Centers, the program costs are less than one-half the cost of other comparable programs.
Session One Program Fee: $1,300
The program fee covers:
- 4 weeks of Chinese Language and Culture coursework/materials (80 class hours);
- room and board (3 meals/day) for 30 days.
Session Two Program Fee: $300
The program fee covers:
- 4 days of orientation and 2 days of debriefing at Tsinghua’s main campus;
- round-trip ground transportation to Service Learning site;
- room and board (3 meals/day) for 22 days.
All participants will be responsible for providing:
- transportation to and from Beijing (approximately $1,000 RT)
- travel and health insurance (approximately $60)
