Tsinghua University is looking for conscientious goodwill ambassadors who want to make a difference in the world, who are concerned about global issues, and who want to shape a more just, peaceful and sustainable world. The program is open to students from any major and at any level of undergraduate or graduate study.

Applicants should have a strong interest in learning Mandarin and Chinese culture and be capable of living cross culturally in a third-world environment - this means being flexible, tolerating ambiguity, respecting differences, and moving outside one's normal comfort zone. Prior experience in community service, international development, or teaching conversational English is a plus, but not a requirement.

Knowledge of Mandarin is desirable but not required because each participant will be taking intensive language courses at Tsinghua and partnering with English-speaking Tsinghua students throughout their service learning projects. The two most important qualifications are the desire to practice global citizenship in China by jumping into an intense community service role, and the ability to be a goodwill ambassador who represents the best aspects of America's cultural values.
